How to choose a padlock that fits
MSC Sourcing editorial guide · 19 October 2026
Measure the fitting first
Check the opening in the latch or hasp and the space around it. Compare these measurements with the product dimensions, especially shackle diameter and clearance. A larger lock body is not automatically a better fit, so ask the seller for missing measurements before ordering.
Read the exact product description
Check the material description, intended environment, key quantity and package contents. Treat appearance as a starting point rather than proof of security performance. Ask for model-specific supporting information when a seller makes a security or durability claim.
Confirm delivery and after-sales details
Check the current price, quantity, delivery information and the applicable returns terms. Keep your order reference and packaging details. Contact the seller through MSC messaging if the delivered item differs from its description.
